El piloto alemán de Red Bull, Sebastian Vettel, ha sido el más rápido en la primera sesión de entrenamientos libres del Gran Premio de EEUU 2012 que se disputa por primera vez en el Circuito de las Américas, en la ciudad de Austin (Texas), por delante del británico Lewis Hamilton y del español Fernando Alonso.
Aunque es la primera toma de contacto con esta pista, el piloto alemán ha pulverizado los tiempos, logrando un crono de 1:38.125, casi segundo y medio más rápido que el McLaren de Lewis Hamilton y por encima de los dos segundos de ventaja con Alonso.
